Resumo
Os Estados Unidos possuem uma extensão territorial de 9.831.510 km2 e têm uma população aproximada de 322 milhões de habitantes. Esse país é uma das maiores economias do mundo, está em primeiro lugar na classificação do PIB, é o segundo maior produtor e consumidor de energia do mundo, mas também é o segundo maior emissor de Gases de Efeito Estufa (GEE), perdendo apenas para a China, e está em primeiro lugar, se considerarmos as emissões de GEE per capita.
Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar as principais políticas, regulamentos, metas e ações que estão sendo empreendidas pelos Estados Unidos no âmbito das mudanças climáticas, bem como as suas Intenções de Contribuição Nacionalmente Determinadas (INDC – Intended National Determination Contribution) que foram submetidas à Convenção-Quadro sobre Mudanças do Clima (UNFCCC – United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) para a Conferência das Partes (COP) 21, fazendo uma breve análise do que estas intenções representam e de como os EUA pretendem atingir a sua meta.

Abstract
The United States has a land area of 9,831,510 square kilometers and have a population of about 322 million. This country is one of the world’s largest economies, ranks first in the GDP ranking, is the second largest world’s energy producer and consumer, but it is also the second largest greenhouse gas emitter (GHG), and is the first considering GHG emissions per capita.
This work aims to present the main policies, regulations, targets and actions being undertaken by the United States in the context of climate change, as well as their Intended National Determination Contribution (INDC) that have been submitted to the United Nations Convention Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to the Conference of the Parties (COP) 21, with a brief analysis of what these intentions represent and how the US intends to achieve their goal.
